She was born at the stroke of twilight, when the sun embraced the horizon. Saikat, an artist, and her father, saw a luminescent aura enveloping his daughter and named her ‘Saanjbathi’ (twilight lamp), endearingly ‘Tukun’. As she is nurtured by her father’s world of ideas, and in the shadow of her mother’s love, Tukun gets entwined with relationships that begin to cloud her perspectives. While she oscillates between comprehension and confusion, she seeks refuge in the silhouettes of her mind’s eye, which guide her towards realizing ‘Saanjbathi’. Sanjbathir Roopkathara changed the face of contemporary Bengali cinema. It was the first ever regional acquisition of Sony Pictures in India. The media appreciation that followed stands testimony to the great cinema that it opened the gates to. Several film festivals and awards later, our very first success reinforced our belief that when a good film is made, it never goes unappreciated.
